Reaper of Souls, with its dynamically generated adventure modes is designed to be that next level. Mayberry declares that the expansion will make the game feel more like the sandbox experience, and less like a directed experience that is more akin to the original game.
"If you examine the classic Diablo, the first game. Diablo the very first version of Diablo is a game that plays through the story's narrative. That was the paradigm that they created at the time and one of the challenges to create Diablo was, "What are the things that we have in common with previous games and how do we make different in the future?" This focus on the story "made the game feel less than it actually was," says Mayberry. "Because you're constantly being driven to go there and now you're forced to you're going to go there."
Those who have been avoiding Diablo because of its subpar range of loot may also discover enough new loot worthy of an additional look. These items are designed to synergise with one another, Mayberry explains, and there are a lot of combinations to create interesting character designs.
