The executive acknowledged that he's being aware of the issues and concerns about Immortal's use of microtransactions. Immortal's endgame is focused around PvP. Players can invest real money to become more powerful than players who do not. This is a topic that has caused controversy.

"The money comes in towards the end of the game" Ybarra said. "The concept was always to lead with great gameplay and make sure that hundreds of millions of people are able to play through the entire game without having to pay. From this perspective I'm very happy about it as an introduction for Diablo."
