Immortal has earned more than $1 million every day since its release in June thanks to microtransactions. The game is now 15 million downloads, LAT said, noting that it's likely to get bigger still with its launch in Asia today, on July 7. The game is also being released in China where it's expected to generate huge numbers.

Blizzard also told LAT that roughly 50 percent of Immortal participants haven't played a Blizzard game before. The same conversation also included Ybarra explained Blizzard's constant initiatives to improve its culture.

GameSpot's Diablo Immortal review scored the game with a score of 6/10. "Diablo Immortal's gameplay is quite premium-feeling adventure in the series it hits all of the good areas, even if its finale begins to depend heavily on microtransactions," reviewer Alessandro Barbosa said.

Diablo was originally designed for PC when it released back in 2000. But since the release of Diablo: Resurrected, the action-RPG classic will be coming to consoles, for the very first time. As it turns out Blizzard needed to put considerable effort into the game in order to ensure the experience on consoles lived up to its legendary status, without actually altering the basic design of the game.

In a blog post discussing how the Diablo Resurrected team considered adapting the game to consoles and consoles, design director Robert Gallerani explained how decisions taken regarding the game's playability on consoles focused "on an entirely different player than the PC player." As a lot of console gamers be more familiar with the console version of Diablo, Blizzard needed to create Diablo similarly approachable.
