The company has decided to end Neumann's contract "for reasons unrelated to Financial reporting or disclosure controls and procedures," Activision Blizzard said in a US Securities & Exchange Commission filing. In a press release, it said Neumann was "terminated due to a violation of any legal obligations owed to the Company."Neumann is now in paid leave and he's been given the chance to "demonstrate the reason that no grounds exist for his termination or the reason why termination of his employment is not otherwise justified."
Activision Blizzard chief corporate officer Dennis Durkin is taking over the role of Neumann as CFO for the interim period. Should Neumann quit Activision Blizzard, Durkin will officially assume the position of CFO, the company said. Durkin was CFO from 2012 to 2017.
A source has told Reuters that Neumann is leaving Activision Blizzard to join video streaming giant Netflix. Netflix's former CFO, David Wells, announced last August that he would be leaving the company following 14 years. The source told Reuters that Netflix would like its new CFO to reside in Los Angeles, which Neumann is.
